Wake up Sydney. We're home.

I chose this cruise due to the timing and destination. It needed to be in school holidays and New Zealand was a destination I wished to visit.

The service from most staff was of a high standard. Staff greeted guests, were polite and generally the service was good. The bar staff were often very busy and did an amazing job of keeping up with demand. The ship is constantly cleaned and staff can be seen in the corridors, on deck, in the dining room always keeping things tidy and clean. The ship is due for refurbishment but isn't worn out enough to make it unpleasant, just a little dated.

Each cabin received a small laundry bag on day 4 or 5 with an offer to fill the bag and have that amount of laundry done for $20. Without that offer having laundry done was very expensive and there are no washing facilities for guests to do their own laundry. At a cost of $1 for a pair of socks and around $5 for a shirt it could add up fast.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Inside

Cabin IA

The cabin was large enough for 2 people to share comfortably. Ample storage space. Room in the bathroom was tight and a taller person would need to sit sideways on the toilet as the wall is close in front of it. Beds were comfortable, pillows good quality. 3 power points and a hairdryer. There is a tv but the shows on it are on a loop and there are few of them, so if you're looking to watch a show and wind down good luck, the choices are very limited. There was one channel that seemed to have children's shows on often. We were an inside cabin, the smallest for guests, with 2 single beds we found that there was room enough for our needs given that we were off ship for 7 days and at shows, or up on board most other times. For the most part there was no audible noise from other cabins. We had a friend in the next cabin and were able to knock on the wall to signal we were ready to go to dinner etc, but it was feint. The cabin was cleaned daily and while I was unsure if the inside cabin would feel too small and dark it really didn't. The staff who look after the cabins are wonderful. Language barriers do exist at times, but if you have time to have a chat they have some interesting stories to tell.

The air conditioning in the rooms works well and we were very comfortable at all times.

The power points are 110 volts and you do need adapters (US). There are some available at guest services but I don't know if there are enough for everyone. I took an epilator with me and found there just wasn't enough oomph to run it onboard, even leaving it on for 5 hours to charge it still wouldn't work. Recharging phones, ipads, camera batteries etc took longer than it does at home.

Port Reviews

Sydney (Australia)

Sydney is the most beautiful port of all. Iconic views to enjoy from the decks before sailing. The city is right there. It really is special.
