My in-laws bought this cruise for the whole family to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. My husband and I traveled with our four year old daughter. Getting onboard and off board went pretty smoothly though they were running behind getting off the ship and the line was pretty long. The ship has a little bit of a 90s feel in all it's brass but overall it was very pretty and still decorated for Christmas. The cabin was fine. We had an oceanview stateroom on the 6th floor. Twin beds pushed together and a murphy bed. There was plenty of storage space. The bathroom had an updated sink/counter and toilet but the shelving and walls were a little worn/rusty. We ate nightly in the starlight dining room and our server Romilo was very nice. The food was good! I'm kind of picky as is my husband and overall we were happy with the food. They were pretty accomodating with our food allergies, though our server wasn't really willing to request a combining of different meals. For example, I asked if I could have ice cream with the sauteed bananas from the creme brulee and he said no (I am allergic to eggs and have a gluten sensitivity so there really weren't many options for me for dessert). Windjammer had plenty of food options even for me with my allergies. Nice quality. Cocokay was very nice. We had a beautiful day. We booked a "bed" (about two weeks before the cruise, though there were open beds that day) and really liked that. You get to select your food ahead of time and they bring you lunch. There is a food truck type thing behind the beds and cabanas where they make the food. It was very quiet and calm and close to the bathrooms. We were in bed 2. The water by the beds was pretty but you couldn't go out more than about 4 feet without sinking deeply into the sand. This is my first time on an island beach, so maybe this is how it always is? One annoying thing that happened was that the night before Cocokay we got back from dinner (6pm seating) and there was an excursion ticket that said we need to select our bed and food by 7pm. This was not in our stateroom when we left at 5:50. I panicked and got in the long line for excursions and chose my bed. I don't know why we didn't get this earlier. It was still ok to pick the food and bed "late" but caused me a moment of panic). Nassau...we didn't do any excursions...just shopped for about 45 minutes. It's a city so it's busy and hectic! Don't forget to bring your photo ID on island like I did (a copy of my passport did not count). Luckily they let me back to the boat because I was with my husband who did have his license. We didn't use the Adventure Ocean for my daughter except for one "family" science activity where we made slime. We just weren't comfortable leaving her since she's only four and has food allergies and asthma. But I saw kids excited to go be a part of their nightly events. My daughter had fun playing in the shallow kids area. I like how they have loungers in the shade on deck as we are very fair and sunburn easily. We also liked the soft serve machine you could get by the pool. The last night at sea was rough and I had trouble sleeping but that's not anything the cruise line can control! Overall I would recommend it for a short, affordable cruise.
