Sail Date: Dec 2017

First time on Viking Ocean have sailed Princess, Royal and Celebrity. I have broken down my review by topic:

Viking Transfers:

After getting off the plane and clearing customs in Barcelona there was a Viking Representative waiting with a sign. I had not even got our Viking stickers out of my bag and they were there. There were a good number of people on our flight. We all collected our luggage and went a short walk to where bus was waiting to take us to our hotel.

Cabin Review

Cabin PV

We booked a Deluxe Veranda and while we were on our pre-cruise we got notification that we were upgraded to a Penthouse Veranda, cabin 5091. I know we would have been fine in the DV but I really liked the amenities of the PV – 68 extra square feet, a sofa, the extra storage at the desk area, the mini-bar with alcoholic beverages and champagne, pressing and shoe shine. As we were traveling in the December we really had no issues with the thermostat. We like the room cool to sleep. I found the king size bed very comfortable as were the linens and pillows. We had nightstands on both sides of the bed with USB ports. I appreciated the nightlight and reading lights. Make sure you try out all the switches to see how it all works. The desk had a lift up top with a mirror to store all my cosmetics. The hair dryer is full size and works well. No need to hold down a button in order to operate. It had to be used at the desk not in the bathroom.

The bathroom was spacious with a full size shower with a ledge and good size toiletries – shampoo conditioner, shower gel and body lotion. I like a bar soap in the shower too so I brought one from home. There was storage space here also but we only used it for my husband’s shaving things and dental products. The floor was heated which was nice in the winter time when we very traveling. It does not get overly warm. Our only issue/complaint on the cruise was the toilet. Apparently we found out later in the cruise, someone flushed empty yogurt containers down the toilet. This caused issues as almost every day there was a period when our toilet would not flush. We started doing test flushes before using the toilet. We would call housekeeping and they would come and fix the issue which they could do for the hallway outside the room. Shame on people for doing things that make the cruise line look bad and cause issues for other passengers.
