In December my husband and I took the 11 Night Dutch Antilles cruise aboard the Celebrity Summit. Was a wonderful experience. First, we stayed two nights at the beginning and end of the cruise in San Juan at the Doubletree. We were originally booked for the Caribe Hilton, but that hotel was damaged during the hurricane. Our stays in San Juan were great. Other than traffic lights being out you really did not notice that a hurricane had hit and all of the shop owners, hotel staff, restaurant staff and cab drivers were happy to see the tourists. Everyone kept saying to make sure we tell everyone that San Juan is okay and that all should come down and spend time there. Old San Juan was a joy as was the National Historic site forts. Onto the cruise. Embarkation and Disembarkation went very smoothly and we were in our cabin by around 1:30 pm. We were in Aqua class cabin 1140 - center Aft. Great cabin and great big balcony with two chairs, table and a lounge chair. Perfect for my husband and his camera. We ate almost every night in Blu, which was excellent as always. Most breakfasts were in the Oceanview Cafe, sometime sitting outside by the Sunset Bar - one of our favorite places in the evening. Sunset Bar had a great guitar player most evenings. We saw some of the shows, which were very good, especially the individual performers. The cruise director, believe his name was Alejandro, was a gas. Very funny. Had some excitement on our first sea day. Captain Kate's crew picked up a "mayday" and the Summit responded. We picked up 6 people who had been adrift for about a month, the last 7 days without food. Very exciting and kudos to the entire crew. Found out later that two of the women were also pregnant - so 8 lives saved. Amazing. Went on 4 cruise line shore excursions - three were excellent - one was not. Our room was well taken care of and we actually enjoyed the snacks that were provided in the afternoon being in Aqua class. This was our first time as Elite, so we took advantage of a few of the perks - such as one free laundry bag, 90 minutes internet and the use of the Tuscan Grille as our waiting area to disembark (that was great). Also went to the Wine Appreciation 101 given - not very good and hard to hear. Ship was clean and I saw no real problems, but I do agree that it's time for a little refresh. All ships take a beating with the number of passengers and the sea air. Overall a great time with a great itinerary.

Cabin Review

Aqua Class
Cabin A1 1140
Love this aft cabin - always our first choice. The balcony is very large with a bit of an overhang to protect 1/2 from rain. Two chairs, table and one lounger. A little noise during the day from the Rooftop Terrace if there is a movie or concert playing, but it never bothered us.

too many people, ended up being a booze cruise and then too much selling of T-shirts - actually stopped the boat to do the selling before we hit the port.
