First off I am a Platinum Carnival VIFP member. We cruise every Christmas and sailed on the Triumph last Christmas 2016 with much better results than this year. The nightmare started while going through customs. Each adult is aloud to bring 1 750ml bottle of wine in their carry on, 2 adults 2 bottles. We are in the process of starting a winery making Mead(honey wine). Our bottles are labeled corked with a corking machine and have cellophane bottle caps. The person even to the cellophane off and could see the cork had not been removed. All she would say is read your cruise agreement, we did I suggest she do the same! Even though we read the cruise agreement concerning bringing wine and contacted Carnival to make sure it was ok our wine was taken from us while going through security. We had 2 options, 1. they would open and pour out our wine, or we could return it to the car. Since we were dropped off at the port by family I called them to come back so I could run it out to them.
When we made it to our cabin it smelled like cigarette smoke, so I opened the door to the balcony and quickly aired it out. The room 7345 had the least amount of storage on any cruise ship I'd been on. The bed was horrible and the sofa was in need of replacement. There was a small cabinet I placed some things in and while retrieving something out of it the hinge on the inside was so sharp it took a big gouge out of my finger. Luckily I had bandaids. The next door neighbors must have been an NFL defensive linemen because many times it sounded like and felt like a defensive line lined up and ran into the wall making a loud crash and shaking the entire stateroom.
My wife and I are healthy eaters so lucky for us we bring most of out own food. The food in the dining room and buffet was horrid with less and less choices every year. I pack organic apples, homemade bread, natural peanut butter and canned vegetables I can eat cold. The only saving grace from the ship's horrid food is eating at restaurants I know at the ports.
Small and worn. Sink had big crack and was peeling. Water went from cold to scalding every few seconds.
