Our 11 day cruise was wonderful for relaxing and enjoying family time together as 4 grown adults. Food was good; we used the main dining rooms as we never felt the specialty dining was worth the extra money. We enjoyed the unlimited beverage package to the max!. The 6' deep swimming pool was wonderful, shore excursions were excellent (mostly beach days and low key ones) and Anita, excursion specialist, was fabulous to work with. Room stewards were good to excellent (our 2 rooms had different stewards and vastly different service). Ship was clean and well run. Due to an injury, I needed special handicap assistance and the ship's crew were always willing and ready to help. The disembarkation was a disaster and took several hours due to congestion caused by faulty elevator service. Due to the uncertainty of cab and uber service due to the hurricanes, we took the expensive ground transportation from airport to ship ($25/person one way or $100 for 4 people vs. $26/ one way for a cab ride for 4 people). We waited for well over an hour for the shuttle and at one time, they completely forgot about us. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and we had a memorable time together as a family over Christmas. We have already used the generous perks for booking another cruise next Christmas.

Wonderful 11 day vacation!

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

  • Antigua
We went ashore and just wandered around the immediate shopping. A good mix of major stores and local vendors. Lots of local artists and very quaint exploring. Joe's Belgian waffles and home made ice cream are a must.

Beautiful beach, good snorkeling, very secluded and relaxed compared to many beaches. Close by ship.

Wonderful, white sand, long beach. Beach chairs and umbrellas included. Snorkeling option but with separate package and far from shore.

  • Cave Tour
Hato caves were excellent and manageable even with a crutch and leg brace. The 49 steps to the top to get into the cave were very manageable. Good overview of the island on the way to the caves

  • Grenada
We wandered onto the shore on our own. It was not a good walking tour as the historical sites were high on the hill (and very run down ruins) and walking in town was hazardous due to narrow streets and sidewalks with gutters between streets and sidewalks. Many times we felt unsafe amongst the local merchants. Good for purchasing local spices, however. Less expensive from the locals then in the stores.

Half hour bus ride to this beach and interesting shopping area. Restaurants and bars right on the beach sand. Speak only FRENCH and many vendors spoke very little English. EUROS were the used and vendors did not have change for USDollars. We were not warned about this at the time of booking. (Euros: yes, lack of exchange for USD: no. we even tried exchanging a $20 at the post office at the recommendation of the local vendor, but could not). Beach was lovely and could have spent a lot more time there than the 2 hours allowed.

  • St. Lucia
6 hour excursion took us by bus for half the time, catamaran half the time. Nice creole lunch at a plantation with good, interesting demonstrations on cocoa and coconut production. Saw a lot of the island. The catamaran ride was occasionally rough so rubber soled shoes they recommend are a must. The beach stop was wonderful, but emptied from the water so if you did not want to go in the water, going on the beach was not an option. I highly recommend this excursion, although it was a bit pricey it was worth it.
