Booked one week before cruise for a good value. Used Princess EZ Air for flights Vancouver to Fort Lauderdale (big mistake). We each were assigned middle seats on opposite sides of the aisle for the longest flight legs each way (on line check in 21 and 24 hours before departure). Flight to cruise got us into Fort Lauderdale at 5:30 AM. To retrieve our baggage we had to exit secure area. Starbucks and a merchandise store were the only services. No restaurants. No luggage check. No pay phones or cell phone merchandiser. Prepaid transfer was after 11AM. Broward Sheriff vehicles and officers were constant. I was rushed by an unrestrained security dog upon exiting the washroom (scared much?) Seat assignment is not the fault of Princess (blamed the airline). I did receive a verbal "sincerest apology" to email complaint. Whooppee!
One tour participant quit our group without telling anyone. We had to wait while tour leader tried to find the quitter. Excursion desk wouldn't acknowledge the glitch and we had to wait til the cruise was over (or waste valuable onboard internet minutes) to complain. Again "sincerest apologies".
Disembarkation was a GONG show. We were late into port due to a medical emergency the night before. This caused a crossover of us leaving and new cruisers arriving. No signs or separation stands with ribbons. Buses showed no sign of their destination. There was a total lack of central communications or control. Princess people shouting conflicting orders. One woman stationed at the exit door of the building just kept calling "keep moving" even though we were jammed up against other exiting passengers. Not exactly helpful. If there is a next time, I resolve to actively dawdle if I have a later disembarkation.
Standard Princess accommodation. Reasonably well maintained.
