It was different for us to sail out of NJ. It was my 1st time in the area. it was awesome to see the NY skyline and the Statue of Liberty on our sail away. Embarkation seemed chaotic, but it ended up being smooth. Disembarkation was easy!
Before I even start, Anthem of the Seas is a beautiful ship with amazing artwork everywhere. In the elevators, stairwells, elevator banks, the Via. However, the holiday decorations were nothing spectacular. The beautiful art piece in front of Jamie's Italian and Vintages was surrounded by stupid gingerbread houses with some lights thrown on. Better off leaving that piece as is. I'm sure the artist would have been insulted!!!
We had a Superior Oceanview Strm w/Bal on the 9th floor in an excellent location. Aft/port-side near the elevators. A beautiful room with amazing storage. It's on a bump out so the balcony was extended. We've done Jr. suites in the past and will probably stick with that in the future. My husband is 6' 8" tall so the bathroom was a bit of a challenge for him. Otherwise it was a great room, however, the bed was hard (as we've experienced on all our RCCL cruises). Large TV that could pull away from the wall to watch from the sofa (also hard). Donovan our room attendant kept it spotless and provided us with the few things we requested. He also left towel animals most evenings! Thanks Donovan, that is the fun part of the evening coming back not knowing what is waiting on the bed.
Beautiful room with extended balcony. Tons of storage space. Very clean. Shower door trim was coming loose, but I'm sure the room attendant was aware of it. Mattress was hard as was the sofa, but it's the same on other ships. Large TV that pulled away from the wall. Refrigerator was empty which we prefer.
Just did some shopping near the port.
