The Carnival Magic was one disappointment after another. Hurricane Irma destroyed Puerto Rico and St. Thomas which we were supposed to visit. Carnival knew for a long time that we were not going to be able to visit. Yet they insisted we were still going to St. Thomas until the last minute.

I tried to cancel the cruise and even tried to move the cruise to the week after, but they wouldn't budge! I should mention we did sail one other Carnival Cruise on the Sunshine. We liked that boat and had a good cruise.

The Islands they chose to replace them were - Half Moon Cay, which is a nice beach but ultimately just a private island owned by Carnival and Nassau, The least desirable destination in the Bahamas. We have already been to both these destinations and we hate Nassau. It is very dirty with military personal with guns standing around. The people of Nassau aren't very personable and are always trying to sell you something. If you do end up there visit the Atlantis water park as it is the best thing to do there. This time we chose a boat and snorkel tour. They were late, it ran short and the staff was not very personable. We will NOT get off the boat again if we end up back in Nassau. With all the destinations to visit we end up with the cheapest and closest alternatives!!!

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View

Cabin 6N

Don't stay on the 1st or 2nd floor unless you like the smell of sewage!

Port Reviews

Amber Cove (Puerto Plata)

Deluxe Catamaran & Snorkel - The crew is what made this the best excursion of our trip. They were fun, knowledgeable and had great personalities. We also had lunch with all you can drink rum and beer. This was by far the highlight of the trip.
