The itinerary of this cruise is good, but affected by the closure of open decks in the hours of darkness for three nights while passing through the Gulf of Aden. The Blu restaurant exclusive to Aqua passengers was excellent entirely as expected, with an excellent maitre D. The buffet cafeteria standard of food was poor and bland. Often food was awkward to even reach due to the layout of the food bars. Staff in bars often stood about chatting among themselves rather than attending to guests. 18% service charge on every onboard purchase is outrageous, especially in bars on board where service is poor. Some of the deck bars were closed at times when they should have been open. The Aqua class stateroom while adequate, was looking rather tired. Worn furniture and rather small on Celebrity Constellation. Our cabin steward however, was outstanding. Advised that Celebrity cruises were definitely 5star, I’d say definitely not!
