Sail Date: Dec 2017
Cabin: Studio Stateroom

I sailed on the Breakaway the week before Christmas. While the ship was decorated nicely for the holidays if you look behind the decorations you can see that the ship needs a refresh. I hear she will be in dry dock in a few months. I booked a Studio cabin, which I have stayed in on several different cruises. This time one of the closet doors would either not open or when finally forced open not close. Maintenance came out a couple of times to fix it, then it would work the opposite and only for a short time before it stopped working again. I gave up and just kept my clothes in my suitcase. I even asked to have the door removed, they agreed, but never got around to doing it.

Food while plentiful was not that good. I ate mostly in the dining rooms to avoid the crowds and hassles of the buffet. Every single meal I ordered in the main dining rooms for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner was served wrong. From the wrong items delivered or the items served incorrectly. Plus the food was either too salty or very bland. i do not eat fish and heard some of it was marginally better. The beef, chicken and pork were either tough or dry and largely inedible. The only decent meal was in a Specialty Restaurant where you had to pay extra to partake.

I did enjoy my vacation, just did not enjoy the ship. Maybe next time it will be better.

Cabin Review

Studio Stateroom

Cabin T1

Size was adequate for a single person. The storage would have been OK except for a problem with a closet door issue. The bed was a bit uncomfortable. The cabin was clean and all of the fixtures worked.
