We chose this cruise because of the unusual itinerary. Unfortunately, we missed two stops because of weather. Sadly, the Viking river cruise emphasis on learning was missing on this ocean cruise. We had a "resident historian" that was virtually an insulting joke. He lectured on the Battle of Hastings and the Bayeau Tapestry while we were in Tunis! Never addressed our itinerary in any lecture! The other travel lecturer dwelt on pics of her home and family and lectured on her family's trip to Jerusalem while we were passing by our planned stop in Algiers!

Comfortable cabins, great service, good meals, but missing too much on the learning side.

We loved their river cruises, but not sure we will return despite the 25% off our next trip. On-board entertainment was first rate, due perhaps to the cruise directors affection for music. But we wish she had given as much attention to the learning experience.
