Grandeur of the Seas Cruise Review by clydebetto
- Sail Date: December 2017
- Destination: Southern Caribbean
We stopped in St Thomas, Antigua, St Lucia, St Kitts, and St. Maarten.
Some of the islands were demolished by the hurricanes this year but seem to be working hard to get the tourism going again.
We could see the damage in several areas from the hurricanes, but the people were friendly, the shops were bustling, clean, and recently remodeled. Some were still in the process of being restored. We were happy to go to these ports and contribute to the local economies.
We did SNUBA on St Lucia. We snorkeled in St. John, Antigua. We toured shops and museums in St Thomas. We took a train tour of St Kitts which I would do again. We went on our own and rode a wave runner in St Maarten. St Maarten seemed to be the hardest hit and we were one of the first ships to return to the island. Some of the shore excursions were canceled. But there were bars, restaurants, and shops that were open. There was horseback riding there as well.
I would definitely go back to any one of these destinations and encourage anyone thinking of going to go.
