We took this cruise due to the list itinerary. It included Key West, Belize, Cozumel, w days docked in Havana, and 2 sea days. It gave a test of destinations that we had never seen. We had been on the sister ship last year and loved the cruise. 2 days before cancellation without penalty or a penalty of $100 a person, we were alerted to an extreme itinerary change. It eliminated Belize, Cozumel and instead of docking in Havana, we were anchored ( not docked) in Cienfugoes, about 150 miles or a 4 hour arduous bus trip one way to Havana. Viking tried to compensate by giving each guest who had signed up for the original itinerary, $250.00 ship board credit, included a night in a hotel and included the shore excursions. There was little to spend on the ship and all of the affordable items were gobbled up immediately. The ship was nice as was the food, service and entertainment. Had the original itinerary been in effect, this would have been an exceptional experience. Oceania had a cruise in the same time slot, but were already booked by the time we were alerted to the extreme itinerary change. Obviously the most disturbing part of this was that we did not get to dock in Havana. I had called Viking several times with questions and got a different spin on the whys of the change. The representatives were all courteous, but apparently not well informed. I checked into future Viking cruises to Cuba. Still no docking in Havana. A shame. This was our 4th Viking cruise. To cruise critic, I cannot think of anything further to add. Ship and service was good. Itinerary was disappointing. Entertainment was good. What more can I say?
Cabin was well appointed.
