This was our 5th cruise with NCL, all of which were great. this one: We originally signed up for a cruise to St Thomas, Tortuga, etc....when we checked in, we discovered the itinerary had changed! granted, because of Hurricane Harvey, but we were NOT notified ahead of time. We would not take the Breakaway again. The ship layout is confusing and not well marked. The Atrium, where the "main" entertainment group performs, and where all the game shows, cruise crew activities, etc are held is open to 3 floors, and the noise was prohibitive for conversation, thinking, ordering food....WAY too loud!! The communication from the bridge was sporadic, incomplete, not udated.

The entertainment was great--a magician, the comedian acts, the dancers, several musicians.... We were a bit put off that the circus performance was for "extra payment" only.

We don't "take advantage" of the specialty restaurants that cost extra, but the 3 sit-down restaurants that are included were wonderful. The buffet, as usual, is a zoo--and we caught a passenger using her bare hands to help herself to the spinach salad/condiments!! That grossed us out, and we didn't visit the buffet after that instance.

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BA

The room was great; the steward was very responsive, helpful, friendly. We learned to NOT choose a room directly under the outside deck level--the crew starts putting out deck chairs at 6:30 am, dragging them across the deck. Yes, it awakes everyone in the next level down.
