We chose this cruise because of the price and itinerary. Of course, the itinerary changed because of the hurricanes, but we still got to go to Barbados which is where I really wanted to go. This was our first cruise on Norwegian, with 2 previous cruises on Princess and 2 previous cruises on Celebrity. The cruise lines have their pluses and minuses. The Norwegian Sun never seemed crowded. We were always able to find a place to eat breakfast in the morning in the buffet dining room and find a seat to watch the show at night without getting to the theater 30 minutes early. Our room was nice. It was on the 4th floor. My only complaint about the 4th floor was the fact that it often smelled smoky by the rear elevator. Maybe the crew is allowed to smoke in their quarters because that elevator was close to the crew quarters. I also did not like the fact the casino was also very smoky as NCL allows smoking in the casino.
Like other reviews, I also found the bar staff to be lacking except in the Windjammer Bar and Observation Lounge. I almost always went to the bar to get a drink.
We went on the St. Pierre tour on Martinique. I would not recommend this tour. It was too much driving and too long. I was ready to head back to the ship before we went to the last little village. The tour guide was terrible. She read from a prepared script. I think her name was Elizabeth. I went horseback riding with a local place in Antigua. We also took a private tour in St. Kitts. Norwegian should have posted more information about our shore excursions online before we got on the ship. For many of the ports, only one or two shore excursions were posted online; however, there was a full list of excursions available once we boarded the ship.
