Spirt is a lovely looking, classy ship. It is very well maintained and spotless clean through out. We had a balcony cabin, which was smaller than previous cruises, especially the toilet and balcony a very large person would struggle with toilet. We went with the new all inclusive, inc drinks upto the value of $ 15 and all service charges and it was excellent, it did not include bottles of wine only glasses, which was fine, all restaurants were there with regular top ups no problem. What I could not understand is why everyone wasn’t on the same scheme, including brits and Americans. All main dining restaurants, for breakfast, lunch and dinner were excellent, as were the speciality restaurants, which you must try. The only thing we missed when in port at lunch there was no other choice to eat in, except the buffet, no other restaurants were open, especially if you wanted a bit of piece and quiet. Entertainment was ok, nothing spectacular but we did see 3 very enjoyable acts in the theatre. The ports, Casablanca - don’t bother getting off, the organised trip that we and 400 other people went on was a total waste of time, we went to the mosque, had a look at their posh side beach, went to a revolting vegetable fish, meat market, which had live tortoises small and large for soup- yuck and then to one shop,to be persuded to buy things and then pestered continuosly by outside traders - not a nice place. Tenerife lovely, weather great, shopping great, not quite warm enough for beach, the same with Gran Canaria, Madeira absolutely beautiful, we loved it, did a Jeep safari up to the highest points, views amazing. Malaga again you must get off to see this city for its shopping, culture and wonderful tapas restaurants which made a change to the buffet on the ship and very reasonably priced, exactly the same with Alicante. The outdoor pool was heated to a warm bath temperature and lovely to swim in as were the jacuzzis. Very impressed with the cleanliness of the whole ship, especially in comparison to last years P&O Acura Which was filthy dirty. What I found was weird that we didn’t get a survey form at the end of the cruise to give our ratings and comments on everything, seemingly they don’t do it anymore? I also wish they could of extended Henry’s bar, which had music in in the evening but only had about thirty seats in it and was always full, it needs extending and getting rid of the small tiny Shanghai bar and blue lagoon bar, which didn’t see a lot of movement. But all in all it was a very enjoyable cruise on a lovely ship and I would certainly go on her again, not a ship so much for families with children, I would recommend the jade or the jewel for families as larger and more accommodating for kids. I think P&O needs to take a serious look at how NCL conducts itself in cruising as they have now lost us at customers.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Balcony

Cabin BA

Small toilet and balcony but very clean and comfortable. Mini bar extortionate sm bt wine $9.95, sm can beer $6.95, the same for a single spirt $6.95 but we did have the water free with our all inclusive package. Tv was boring only one English movie channel, which repeated and repeated. And for UK customers, the cabins only have coffee filters, hot water into the coffee, then into jug, NO TEA BAGS or KETTLE, we were told no kettles, use the hot water filter without putting the coffee in and take tea bags and milk from buffet restaurant but it is not the same, it just doesn’t get hot enough, so take a travel kettle, if you like your cuppa!
