First time on Norwegian Cruise line. An enjoyable cruise to ports on the south eastern Caribbean. Three ports were changed due to hurricane damage but the new ports were all very good. Our favourite ports were Martinique ( very European and they had a wonderful greeting for visitors) and St Lucia ( very lush and mountainous, quite beautiful). The ship was small but fine. Our favourite spot was the Observation lounge on the 12 th deck at the front of the ship. Music every night and a quiet spot during the day. It has an outdoor deck which was great for watching sail aways. There is also a great promenade deck (6th)which is set up for walking or running around the ship. There were a few loungers for sitting on this deck but they need to put out more as it was difficult to find a vacant one. The Sun is in need of some sprucing up generally which it will get in the spring in Victoria. The staff was great. Lots of enthusiasm and very friendly. The cruise director and staff were outstanding. We enjoyed the entertainment except for the Burt Bacharach show which seemed very out of date and old fashioned and just about put me to sleep! We especially enjoyed the music ( jazz, classical, rock ) in the various bars and venues throughout the cruise. We took one excursion in St Lucia ( historical St Lucia) and thought it good value for the money. Our cabin was comfortable in a quiet part of the ship and our steward was excellent.

The only disappointment was in the food. The buffet area is small and crowded but the out door cafe at the back of the ship was a lovely place to be. The sports bar and Moderno offered alternative and much quieter areas to eat during the day. The food in the dining rooms was quite mediocre although there were some good things from time to time. We found the selection limited and by the end of ten days we were getting quite bored by it. It sounded good on the menu but rarely lived up to the description and was often overcooked. The buffet had a slightly more interesting selection but even it paled by the end of the cruise.

Despite the food disappointments , we had a great time on this ship and would certainly try Norwegain again in the future.

Cabin Review

Mid-Ship Oceanview Porthole Window

Cabin OF

Nice big porthole with great view of the sea. Clean and spacious enough for two. Lots of storage space. On a lower deck mid ship so little movement on the rocky days we had.

Port Reviews

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Typical Caribbean port. Some interesting churches. An old fashioned but very interesting museum. Learned a lot from it. Friendly people.

Barbados

We were there on a Sunday and Bridgetown was totally shut down - there was nothing to see or do. In retrospect we should have taken a tour perhaps!

Martinique

Our favourite port. Loved the European feel, the French food. Well organized for visitors with information guides in red vests at the port and around the town at various sites to help you find your way around. But take euros or else use credit cards. Saw several people frustrated because they did not understand the exchange rate they were getting!

Antigua

Typical port in the Caribbean. The big church is undergoing a major renovation. Had a long and interesting conversation with a guide there.
