Sail Date: Dec 2017

My partner and I went to Moreton Island, QLD on the 7th of December 2017 aboard the P&O Pacific Eden. We had booked the Suite - Value Plus package for his birthday and quite enjoyed our trip greatly. We boarded from White Bay Cruise Terminal which we found was quite inconvenient for public transport so to get there, you need to either use TAXI/UBER/Cruise Transfer Coaches or have someone you know drop you off to the terminal because there is no public transport that can take you there. It would've been much easier if it was in the Circular Quay Terminal.

Being a VIP passenger, we skipped the queue for check-in which was very convenient as there was a long line of people trying to check-in. The process was pretty quick, they asked us general questions, confirmed our details, took our pictures and handed our cruise cards to us (cruise card: room key and onboard spending card). Our Suite Room looks bigger in pictures - which happens most of the time, but it was very clean, tidy and had a fresh feeling to it.

The food at The Pantry could be better. They have many different choices to offer ranging from Indian, Mexican, Asian, Western, Vegetarian, Meat, Fruits and Desserts. The food at The Waterfront was OK, they had a 3 course-style dining and the interiors were very nice and the presentation was stunning. This goes for Angelo's Italian Restaurant as well.

Cabin Review

Cabin Suite

We got the Suite 10039 which is right in the middle of the ship and in Deck 10 - the highest deck for cabins and this is very good for those of you who get Sea-Sick. I was pretty confident that I wouldn't get Sea-Sick. I can sit on the plane for 10 hours, have an 8 hour drive and still be OK and thought that the cruise would be nothing to me but I somehow did end up getting Sea-Sick and having our room in the middle was definitely a huge help and perfect position than the main lobby decks.

When we got in to our room, our first impression was that the room is very clean and fresh. It definitely looked smaller than in pictures but it seems like that's the case most of the time with whatever we experience. The beds are pretty comfortable, it was 2 king-single sized beds combined into one big king bed. Although the room was smaller than in pictures but it definitely was comfortable and cosy, we would still much prefer it over the Oceanview or Balcony (as being said that they look smaller than in pictures so I cannot imagine a much smaller room than the Suite). The Suite had a walk-in Closet which has around 3 built-in mirrored wardrobes - plenty of space to store your luggage away and to hang your clothes, there is also a make-up vanity which has a large table and mirror. It has a stool for you to sit on while getting ready, it also has a sink on the corner. Next to the closet is of course the bathroom. The bathroom is quite small, there is a shower over the spa-bath. The Balcony for the Suite is quite large, there are 4 outdoor chairs and a table with 2 sun lounges.

The room stewards were very friendly and very nice, always greets us and made sure we are comfortable. They clean our rooms twice a day or however much you need them to - there is a tag that you can place outside your door if you would like your room to be cleaned and this literally means that your whole room will be cleaned including your bathroom.

Our room constantly smelt fresh, no foul smell whatsoever. Overall we quite loved our room, my partner enjoyed the balcony and spent a lot of time there taking in the beautiful ocean view.

Because we booked the Suite Cabin, we got the perks of being VIP and this got us to: priority embarkation and disembarkation, priority restaurant reservation - but make sure you go to the restaurant early to book as it tends to get booked out literally after the first few hours of bookings being opened. We also got Unlimited 1.5L Water Bottles sent to our rooms, this was all part of the suite package. We got Canapes and Wines, afternoon teas sent to our room and room serviced breakfast of our choice. This was all very luxurious and convenient as it was nice to have breakfast with the view of Moreton Island on our balcony.

The furnishings in the suite were definitely quite dated - this includes the long lounge and chairs but then again this did not bother us whatsoever, I guess they could put in better furnitures to make the ship a little bit more modern. The TV in the room was quite small, I think it's a little 27" flat screen. This also could be upgraded, I understand that they could not put a big TV as it rotates on the table that's in front of the big window, but they could at least put a 40" which would've made a lot of difference because we literally cannot see what was on the screen and it was quite uncomfortable to watch a movie on such a tiny screen from a few metres away. But again - did not bother us so much.

Overall, Suite Cabin is pretty good, I mean on Pacific Eden - not sure about the rest of the fleet but I probably would not board on it again due to it's lack of young people friendly and convenience, I would love to try Carnival or at least the Pacific Explorer. I think my next ideal cruise trip would be the Pacific Islands. If you guys have had experienced them, please do share your story with me. Would love to hear more about it.
