  • Destination: the Eastern Caribbean
  • Cabin Type: Balcony

Choose this because of original itinerary . Eastern Caribbean - St Thomas, San Juan, Amber Cove and Grand Turk. Because of hurricanes Ended up with more of a Bahamas cruise- Nassau, Amber Cove, Grand Turk and was to be Half Moon Cay but that was changed to Freeport.

Excursion for Freeport was a hop on hop off 4 stop tour. On a no window bus.

1 st stop was a tour of Perfume factory but it was closed on the weekends, 2 new stop Rand Nature Center- with a 3 dollar entry fee - was nothing more than a walk through the bush and a caged peacock, and 2 caged snakes. 3 Rd stop was to be a private beach with $10 entry. Was raining at this point so bus agreed not to go there. Last stop was a shopping area but it was pouring rain so we all waited for a windowed bus and returned to ship. It was a last minute added excursion as this port was added the day before. Wouldn't recommend

Ship wasn't bad but we found there are too many areas that to go from one area to another on the same floor. You had to go down a floor or two then walk part of floor then go back up.

Pools etc. Everyone says that on embarkment day grab lunch and go to pool while waiting for rooms to open (1:30). Pool was empty of water. This occurred many times during the week. Closed for activities in lido deck or empty. Water slide was only open a couple times all week.

Entertainment. If you like trivia there is lots of that, if you like production type show not this one. Lacked a variety

Service was great. But room steward only came in once a day. Traveling with someone who Had child in room so instead of bringing down Pullman bed he made up the couch and were left with no use of couch all week. On embarkment day notice an item from previous cruiser on floor and didn't feel like floor had been vacuumed (small rocks in carpet). Left the item where it was and on 3 Rd day steward put it on my counter. Wasn't mine.

Food- lacked originality. Same items over and over. Caribbean theme in buffet 2 days in row. Dessert. Bread pudding cake, next day apple cake, next day pineapple cake, peach cake. All the same just changed fruit. Vanilla panna Coda then chocolate panna coda etc. Only one selection for "diet" dessert not even sure it was sugar free. Cookies lacked taste. Chocolate chip and what we guessed was same dough just no chocolate chips

Burger place only open 12-6. Buffet opens for supper at 6. No overlap. If you didn't like what was on buffet you couldn't go back to get burger. Could go to deli for sandwich or pizza.

Embarkment was good but disembarkment was extremely slow. Need more organization to get lines flowing better. Hour and half in line. Have been on several cruises that have gone quicker.

Sailed on Princess and Holland America before

Cabin Review

Cabin 8C 8237

Needs work. Chipped cupboard, toilet was needing replaced. Black rings

Port & Shore Excursion Reviews

Grand Turk

Loved the beach but if you wanted a chair and umbrella in the first 3 rows you had to pay a local. Back rows were free and from the cruise lines. No views of beach. Pay enough to cruise line so why pay extra to have front rows. I'm all for supporting local but give them somewhere else away from right off the dock area.

4 stops- 1 st stop was closed. Perfume factory. Nature Center nothing there to see
