While there was much they did right, and while the ship is gorgeous and well thought out, I can sum the experience up in one word—Boring. It was flat, monotonous, one dimensional. It was like they made a beautiful drawing but forgot the colors. The lectures were awful, the entertainment was blah and the side trips that were included were horrible. The clientele was so old it made Regent’s look young. They ran out of good wines on the package, mini bar vodka and never had the promised IPA beers. We spoke with at least 5 people who said they’d go on another river cruise, but never Ocean again. The food was also monotonous and never did they bring in any of the fresh local fruits or fish in ports of call. The staff was excellent but the captain was MIA. We had several rough sea days and he never gave warning or told how long it would go on, just said hold onto the hand rail. The cruise director was going through the motions as well. I could go on and on, but the biggest disappointment was there was zero build up to the Canal ( our purpose for going) and the commentary during the crossing was awful. We were very disappointed in the entire experience. The ship was pristinely clean and the chirping bird noises in the public bathrooms a creative touch. One design flaw is the main pool’s retractable roof. When it’s closed the space is unusable because it becomes a sauna. Also, upon departure, they never had a sail away party or anything. It was all just ho hum. Sad but maybe they will improve.. If they want to compete with the luxury cruise market, they have a lot of work to do.

Very austere decor but comfortable and spacious. Bad closet arrangement. it was roomy, but had awkward two door sliders. I am used to a walk in closet on Regent. For the same space room as Regent, the bathroom, shower and closet weren’t great.
