Cabin: Deluxe Obstructed Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

The ship itself is good, well laid out with plenty of bars and places to relax both in and out of the sun. One criticism of this aspect though – the large Solarium (the adults only area) is entirely enclosed, so if you want to sit in the sun in peace and quiet you can’t (unless some of the glass panels are retractable).

The cabin (deck 6, balcony) seemed a trifle narrower than usual, but it was otherwise quite large with a much larger balcony than usual. There were plenty of coat hangars provided – too many to fit in the wardrobes once clothes were hanging on them. One wardrobe is a reasonable size, the other is too small, so there wasn’t really enough hanging space for a couple on a 14 day cruise (3 guesses which 1 of us scored the narrow wardrobe). There was plenty of cupboard / drawer space. No shampoo was provided, just soap and a combined shower gel / shampoo, which I thought was a bit penny-pinching. The bed was large and comfortable

The entertainment was varied in quality. The 2 guest bands – Austrian Beatles and Achtung Baby, a U2 tribute band were good, as were the various resident musicians. The Pixels show was a major disappointment. From comments made by people who had seen it previously we were expecting a high tech show with lasers, a light show etc, with cast members swinging from the ceiling. It turned out to be an average song and dance show
