Just about everything about this cruise sucked from the beginning. First here's what was GOOD about it: we got back home. What's bad? Well, here we go. I wanted to get into "a" hot tub at some point, but they were always filled with tub hogs who spent hours in them. The steam room in the men's lockers wasn't working - the personnel said that "parts have been on order for 2 weeks" and said it wouldn't function for the duration of the cruise. The lockers themselves didn't work, either - the locks were dysfunctional. Several of the men's showers themselves were not functioning as well. Several areas of the ship were in disrepair - rust and corrosion were quite obvious - and it didn't seem important for Carnival to repair these. When they DID repair stuff, it was DURING the cruise; on several occasions we heard very loud buzzing and sawing being conducted within certain bathrooms and other on-ship areas which created noise pollution and nasty chemical smells. In addition, they started painting the BALCONIES while we were there - the same balconies which we paid EXTRA for to enjoy, but were denied because they needed to work on them. Some of the help on this cruise were very rude and/or oblivious to their less than stellar customer service; specifically, the waiters during brunch in the Normandie Restaurant, and the assistant cruise director. The assistant cruise director hovered over all of us as we waited (way too long!) in the Taj Mahal arena to disembark. She repeatedly complained to the crowd how the STAFF was being treated, and she used the phrase "it sucks" repeatedly. I'm sorry, aside from the low-class language you're using, I'm paying YOU to be on this trip, and I'm NOT willing to listen to your staff bitch and moan about their day - especially when I have NO choice as to where I can sit or stand (in this particular case). Finally, I witnessed several children in the Serenity area of the Lido deck - which is supposed to be all adult. The staff made no attempt to enforce the no-children rule here.

Aft-View Extended Balcony

Cabin 8N

Our steward Francis was EXCELLENT - the highlight of the trip! He was leaps and bounds above the petty and childish behavior of the other staff. I wouldn't get this room again for the simple reason that it rocked too often - being at the end of the ship and on the 8th deck.

Port Reviews

Nassau

If I could give this port negative stars, I would. Horrible experience here. Too many pushy taxi and excursion drivers in your face the second you set foot. The city and infrastructure are decaying rapidly (at least since the last time we visited it 10 years ago). Not as friendly as the travel books make it out to be. Caveat emptor.

Port Canaveral (Orlando)

Great port - much better than Baltimore. Bigger, more organized and cleaner. I'd definitely use this port to sail out again.
