This was our families 9th cruise and 3rd with RC (and second on the Liberty of the Seas). While we have a slight preference for Carnival, the price was just too good to pass up. We have been on enough cruises that everyone has a routine: I like to sleep, wife like to enjoy the gym and sauna, and kids like the kids club.

On-boarding went amazingly smooth. We dropped the bags off at 11AM and were on the ship within 15 minutes. Definitely the fastest we have ever boarded.

Overall, the food was distinctly better than past cruises. We typically would eat in the main dining room and then head up to the Windjammer to sample what was there. The lamb on the first night in the Windjammer was fantastic. Kids ate a ton of shrimp cocktails and escargot. Food was definitely two notches better than the last trip on the Liberty. We were told this was due to a new chef that started about 6 months ago. Only two small disappointments in the food:

Cabin Review

Family Oceanview Stateroom

Cabin FO

Pretty standard cabin. Shower was in a little dis-repair (shower door never closes completely and anti-scald button on shower was broken) but otherwise OK. Generally a quite room except for a horn outside the ship that goes off every 15 or so minutes during the night. Sounded something like a fog horn and last about 3-5 seconds. Not overly loud but something that might be annoying to a very light sleeper. The only other time there was noise was when we docked there was a lot of banging when they opened up the engine room door that seems to be below this cabin.

Port Reviews

Nassau

We like to walk and Nassau was good for that. It is only about a 7-10 minute walk to Queen Ann's staircase which was pretty interesting. From there we walked to Paradise Island which was about a 30 minute brisk walk. The view from the bridge was very nice. There is a nice area to feed the ducks and turtles about 150 yards from the public beach access (where the taxi's drop off) nearest to Atlantis. We also like to snorkel and unfortunately the beach was not good for that. However, the beach and ocean were beautiful so glad to say we have been there. Visited a few shops and people were friendly and not pushy (much better than some other destinations). However, the prices in other ports seemed to be cheaper for most of the things we looked at so ended up not buying anything on this trip.

Galveston

Used to live in the area so know it well. Lots of neat little shops on The Strand. Somewhat run down once you get out of the shopping area. Lots of good private places to park when taking a cruise.
