We chose this cruise because the sailing dates fitted in perfectly for us to celebrate the 50th birthday of my wife, it had been booked for 1 year in advance. We arrived at the terminal to get on the ship at our allotted time only to discover that a block booking of about 700 had turned up early resulting in queues everywhere, but we could live with that we had a holiday to look forward too. We had read reviews in advance about the ship but that didn't bother us much as cruising is subjective. All i can say is the ship is indeed tired in a lot of places, rust on a lot of outside areas the ship just needs a lot of TLC.If you had never cruised before it would be fine but if you have the newer ships blow the Millennium out of the water,Celebrity need to take this vessel out of service asap (i believe it goes in for a refit in the next year or so) or charge accordingly ie tired old ship should mean cheaper price? Having to share a cruise with a block booking which was a free holiday for them all was no fun. From them all mobbing the oceanview cafe and them touching the food and then leaving it for someone else to pick up i found revolting, to sitting on the stairs in large groups is ignorant and a safety hazard for other passengers.Maybe in future Celebrity should do the right thing and let all the fare passengers know that they are sharing the ship with people that are on a block booking. In booking this cruise we wanted to see places we hadn't seen before, at no point does it tell you on the Celebrity website that some of the ports are a 3 hour roundtrip to the city or place you are visiting, maybe that should be on the website? The tours that are sold onboard are average at best you can easily do your own deals with a taxi for a tour at most places for a fraction of the price,Manilla is a perfect example you can walk from the boat to most places but Celebrity charge a lot for driving around the block a few times to make it look like a tour. For a vacation that was booked 1 year in advance for i feel this cruise was very average its like staying in a Hotel that 20 yers ago was a 5 start but over the years is now a 3 star but they are still charging 5 star rates. In saying all of this the staff onboard are the best that we have seen compared to other cruise ships, they always smile and are a credit to the ship. Celebrity must do better.
