We chose this cruise in order to travel with two couples we have cruised with in the past few years; one from Texas and the other from Switzerland. We met up in Galveston and enjoyed two days pre-cruise enjoying the many cuisines offered on the island; from Mexican to seafood. Having traveled on another Freedom class ship, we were comfortable with the Liberty of the Seas deck plans. The Liberty is well laid out and easy to navigate. Embarkation was relatively easy as was the debarkation at the end of the seven days. The ship shows a minute amount of wear, but certainly nothing that would affect most travelers; only those who looked for minor wear. Our cabin was a D1 classification. It had sufficient storage room and was most adequate for the two of us. Having the balcony made early morning coffee time enjoyable and late evening drinks nice. Our steward was Charmaine from Jamaica. He performed his magic of keeping our cabin looking like it did when we arrived the first day. He was a very charming man who smiled easily and was most pleasant. Dining was split between the main dining room, the Windjammer and Chops. Each was quite good. The offering in the main dining room as typical of our past cruises with the same items. In Chops, the steaks and side items were wonderful; as was the service. The Windjammer food was varied enough to make breakfast as different each day as one could want. The omelets were great. The only breakfast item that is lacking on all of the ships is the biscuits. It seems that no chef on any of the ships knows how to make a proper American biscuit! The Windjammer a good alternative when we chose to remain in shorts for dinner after a day in port. The entertainment on this cruise was the best we have seen for a while. The performance "Up in the Air" was incredible and the ice show was one of the best we have seen. At the end of seven days, we dreaded the experience of finding our luggage and going through customs. Both went quickly and the Custom agents were quick and hospitable. We would definitely cruise on the Liberty again.

Cabin Review

Superior Oceanview Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

Great location. Middle of the hump and just around the corner from the aft elevators and stairs. It made for a quick ascent to the Windjammer, the pool, and the Diamond Lounge; which was nice in the mornings for grabbing a quick cappuccino, a latte, or a coffee to enjoy on the balcony or pool deck with our friends.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

Spent the day at Mr. Sancho's. Well worth the cost. The pool, the beach and the bar were kept spotless. The food and drinks were very, very good

Grand Cayman (Georgetown)

We have been to Grand Cayman many times in the past to dive. This cruise we spent an hour or so just walking around in the port. Since there were six ships in port, we chose to avoid the extreme crowds and spent most of the day at the ship's pool.

Falmouth

Spent the day in the cruise line's port area. The shops were quite varied and the salespeople were very pleasant. A good amount of time was spent at the pool in Margaretville. We had a good time with our friends enjoying the pool, the food and the margaritas!
