My husband and I sailed on the Caribbean Princess Nov. 20th. thru the 30th. We did the Panama Canal. The ship was beautiful along with our room and the ports of call were amazing. This was our fifth time cruising with Princess. The first night we decided to go to the dining room, when arriving we were told about a 30 minute wait, not a problem for us at all. When we got to the end of the line we were asked if we would like to share a table or have a private table for two, we opted for the table for two, were told to go wait in the lounge and handed a buzzer. When the buzzer went off 20 minutes later we were taken to the Palm dining room upstairs and led to a table to share. We told the host we didn't wait almost an hour to share a table, he said this is not sharing a table I said yes it is. He got aggravated and took us back to the hostess desk where we were taken to another table which was near the staff's station where they pour coffee, tea and water. It was so noisy that we left and went to the buffet. We have been on Princess cruises where the first night they have a wonderful seafood buffet. Not this time, the food looked horrible. So many food items not labeled. I had to ask what kind of fish they were serving. I was told it was basa and tilapia, two fish I refuse to eat. Come to find out they only have one side of the buffet open and you have to walk all the way around to the closed side of the buffet to eat because the open side is too crowded and by the time you get there your food is cold. Really felt bad for the elderly that had to walk all the way around.
The next day we went to Princess Cay. What a disappointment. Waited in a long line for lunch and then when we got to the buffet they were out of most of the food. When I asked one of the staff if I could have a hamburger bun his response was "We are finished." I looked at my watch which read 12:55, they were supposed to be serving til 1:30. We had a hamburger patty, lettuce and tomato and a banana for lunch. Decided to get a tropical drink at one of the outdoor bars, was told it was closing and would have to walk quite a way to get a drink at another bar. i looked at my watch which said 1:45, we were on the island til 5:00. I just said forget it!!!
The breakfasts at the buffet were awful. They serve watery scrambled eggs....we opted for fruit every morning. Even the muffins were dry and bland. Had lunch in the dining room one day. I had a hamburger and fries which were good, my husband had a club sandwich was the saddest looking one I had ever seen. He had me try his potato chips which were stale. Most nights we tried to get in to the dining room but were told was a 45 minute wait, so back to the disgusting buffet. Only had one good meal and that was in the Crown Grill. We figured out that Princess is now making their food taste bad so you will eat in their restaurants you have to pay for.
Nice cabin.
Ran out of food...rude staff....couldn't even get a drink as they were closing early.
