We always cruise around the thanksgiving holiday.this is the second time we chose Anthem We do not like to fly. Living in NYC there are really only two choices, the Anthem or the NCL Breakaway. We have sailed both. We enjoyed the entertainment and the activities on the Breakaway Julie the cruise director was awesome. Last year the Anthem did not wow us in part because it seemed the crew were going thru the motions with upcoming vacations. We only chose it again because our two year old is now running and needed running space which we found to be ample on the Anthem. The Cruise Director Dennis Charles and Enzo the activities manager were probably the best team we have ever experienced. There seemed to be more life in the events that were provided this time around.

Our experience this time was so superior to last time. We are booking again in May and November 2018.

Expect to wait and be boxed out of events - if you want to experience all of the ship book before you get on what you can, and then again once you get onboard. Last year the RoyalIQ app was horrible, we lost reservations and spent more time trying to negotiate it. We did not have the app this time, but heard it was working better.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin E1

the cabin has plenty of storage - and is a nice size -- Deck thirteen was convenient but could get noisy at times. If you use packing cubes your cabin will always look like the first day you walked into it. The bathroom shower with glass door was very accommodating for us. The counter space was sufficient.

Port Reviews

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

The port traffic is rather heavy something we are used to that living in NY - expect it. Once you drop off your bags the garage is right there, it is extremely convenient. the boarding lines are long expect about 40 minute wait, if you are getting there early - my advise would be take your time getting there it will go a lot easier especially with children.

Nassau

Nassau is not one of our favorite ports - we booked resort for a day. The Brittish colonial Hilton is a 15 minute brisk walk from the pier. The cost was $80. half of it was in food and beverage credit which if you spend the day you will use.The menu items average about $15.
