  3. Pride of America
This was our first cruise but definitely not our last. The Pride of America is a beautiful ship. They have everything you could possible need on board. Our room was excellent. Much more roomy than we anticipated and the bed was super comfortable. So glad we got a balcony so we could watch the ship coming into port and we got spectacular views of the Napali coast in Kauai. The entire ship is spotless. It was like staying in a beautiful hotel. The food was excellent, from the Aloha buffet to the Cadillac Café, Moderno, La Cucina, Liberty Dining room and Cagney’s Steak House. The service and food were phenomenal! Top notch! Fitness center had way more equipment than expected and was just as good as our gym. The entertainment was fantastic, particularly the magician, the comedian and singer Toby Beau. We really enjoyed all the entertainment they offered. The pool area was great and they had a few BBQ’s for passengers. The excursions they offer are wonderful. We were happy with each one we chose. Getting on and off the ship is easy and security is tight which made us feel secure. The waters between the islands can be a bit rough and the ship did rock a little but we both found we slept better than ever with the boat rocking us to sleep. Overall the staff was fantastic. There were multiple daily announcements about the day’s activities. Special recognition to John from Ottowa in the Waikiki lounge. We had a great hockey conversation with him; very friendly and knowledgeable. We missed the lecture about how the ship runs so John gave us an overview and answered all our questions. It’s remarkable how this ship is organized. Also, another shout out to David from Long Beach. He was our server for Thanksgiving dinner in the Liberty Dining room. His service was excellent and he was just a super nice guy. Finally, we’d like to thank our head housekeeper Annabelle who took excellent care of us. She made our trip more comfortable and enjoyable. We were blown away by our first cruise and so glad we chose NCL

Room was spacious and had everything we could possibly need including a coffee maker. Plenty of room for all our clothes. Suitcases fit nicely under the bed. We were not crowded at all. The most surprising thing is that the bed is probably the most comfortable bed we've slept in away from home. We got a great night sleep every day. Have an aft balcony gave us great views of the Napali Coast in Kauai.

  • Hawaii Volcanoes National Park
We did the Lava Field Expedition with Kapohokine Adventures. Ken and Wade were our guides. Terrific guys and terrific guides. They searched the fields and found fresh lava flows. It was worth the 8 mile round trip hike to see flowing lava before my eyes. The rocks were so hot it melted the bottom of our sneakers. This hike is difficult if you don't exercise. Also, you must wear closed toe shoes with good soles. Ken was also our driver and gave a great history of the island before and after the hike. We were lucky to have both Ken and Wade.

Emotional tour. We were given ample time to view the memorial as well as the Bowfin sub, USS Missouri and aviation museum. Our land guide for the first 3 days before the cruise was Leo B. WE LOVE LEO B.! He was, by far, the best tour guide we have ever had. He was fun, gave great info, funny..never hesitated to stop for photo ops. He also did an excellent job wrangling us and making sure we were on time every morning. We spent 5 days on Oahu after the cruise and wished we could have hired Leo B. to take us around. Did I mention WE LOVED LEO B!

Elena was fantastic! She took us EVERYWHERE! She gave excellent information about Kauai and did not leave out one stop. She even took us for shave ice. We had a fantastic time and felt like we got a very in-depth look at the island of Kauai.

  • Zip-Lining
Ben and Eric at Just Live were absolutely fantastic. They gave us proper, detailed instructions about zip lining and safety. They made sure we were safe the entire day. Zip lining 90 feet in the trees was a blast! If you are afraid of heights, this is not for you. We had a great time!

  • Snorkeling
Big Island Snorkel was one of the most organized and well thought out excursions we did. Breakfast is ready for you when you board the boat. A nice spread of pastries, bread, fruit and coffee. It's a short ride to the cove where you snorkel with tons of fish, spinner dolphins and eels. Plenty of equipment for everyone plus paddle boards, inner tubes and a water slide. After snorkeling they presented us with a beautiful lunch buffet of burgers, veggies burgers, soft rolls, chips, various salads and fruit. Fantastic company, fantastic crew, FANTASTIC day!

  • Haleakala Crater
OMG this was a highlight on our trip. Our guide Nettie was absolutely fabulous and what a tremendous human being she is! What a spitfire!!! Love her. Started before sunrise star gazing, We never saw so many stars in our lives. The sunrise was spectacular. Very difficult to put into words...watching the sunrise while you are above the clouds. It was emotional and breathtaking at the same time. Even though it was COLD (25 degrees and windy), it was worth every single second!

  • Road to Hana
Unfortunately we were in a group of much older people who did not want to get off the van much or do anything adventurous. Our guide Paul took us to the Waikani falls where we swam but felt pretty rushed. We were also rushed at the black sand beach as we were the only ones who got out of the van. Why are you on a road to hand tour if you Don't want to walk on the black sand beach? There were stops along the way we wanted to do but no one else was interested including Dave's ice cream for homemade dairy free coconut ice cream. Our guide gave a lot of good info but got a little too political at times. Road to Hana is beautiful and lush but I wish we would have rented a jeep and done it ourselves.
