We have traveled to many pl;aces but had not been to the West Indies. Our cruise was planned far in advance of the hurricane hitting the islands. We were very undecided whether to cancel our cruise but Viking said that they were making adjustments to the itinerary and since we had been on a prior cruise with Viking we chose to trust them. Viking went out of their way to make our cruise wonderful. They gave us extra shipboard credit and credited 25% of what we paid on this cruise to a future cruise(we booked Portugal) After boarding we found out that due to cancellations we only had 500 passengers,almost 1 to 1 with crew! Reviews I read said that the full ship never feels crowded so you can imagine how this was. The staff and crew was what you expect from Viking. This was our first ocean cruise with Viking.The food was wonderful with 3 fancy restaurants to choose from and many casual dining choices.The entertainment featured the same peformers in different venues and all were increibly talented. Some excursions were cancelled due to hurricane destruction but with the additional shipboard credits we booked more than we normally would and all were good.I felt that two of the "moderate" hikes were very challenging. The only glitches were with American Airlines. We booked the flights through Viking. The connection out of DFW to San Juan was only an hour and we had to run to catch it, the luggage ended up going to Miami but it caught up with us during dinner. The connection going home through DFW was less than an hour and we missed it. AA put us up in a hotel. Both flights were full or overbooked. Very stressful. We have traveled the world, mostly with land tours, but have decided Viking is the only way to travel now. Thank you Viking and the crew of the Viking Sea. Oh! and do check out the spa with the ice room!
