Having received quite a bit of Viking River cruise literature the past year or so, a friend and I decided to stop talking about going and actually sign up for a cruise. It was my first time cruising with Viking and her first cruise ever. We had heard good things from friends, pricing was good, and we wanted to spend a few days in Amsterdam. What a great city to start things off with, strongly recommend doing an extension there.

Was very impressed with the knowledge and caliber of all our guides in each city and highly recommend signing up for all the included tours. Weather could have been better at times, but we had our red Viking umbrellas to shelter us when need be. We particularly enjoyed the Bruhl UNESCO Palaces and Marksburg Castle, two optional tours and, of course, the cruise down the Middle Rhine. The Medieval Village of Colmar was another high spot as was the glass blowing demonstration one night (who knew?). We made many new acquaintances, the food was good, the staff was excellent, and we've already signed up for another cruise in April!

P.S. the coffees, cappuccino in particular, in the coffee machine outside the Viking Lounge are worth trying. Take a cookie or two while you're there as well.

Cabin Review

Veranda Stateroom

Cabin B

Small but adequate. Loved the heated bathroom floors. Excellent toiletries. Could have used more hangers, two ladies....Would also recommend replacing the wooden hangers with the newer, thiner ones out now. Cabin was well tended to during the cruise.
