While there is no disputing that the Oasis is a beautiful ship, certain aspects could not be overlooked. Cruising it seems has become all about the nickel and diming of the guest where more and more items are at an additional cost. Especially when travelling with children, it's not pleasant to have to shell out additional money on a constant basis.
Food: Not blown away, all of the meals in the main dining room were served lukewarm at best and the option for flexibility did not seem to be there (i.e. replacing rice with a vegetable) It was definitely more of an assembly line type atmosphere. Food quality was much better in the speciality dining options, however to pay an additional cost each not is not ideal. Would have been nice to have a few alternate late night options like a snack bar for those who don't eat pizza. For the cost of purchasing a beverage package, it would be helpful to have more than 4 of the Coke machines on the boat. Very often, many items had run out, only after waiting in a long line for your drink. With such a large capacity of guests there really should be more of these machines.
One major issue we had which was no fault of RCI was our cabin neighbours. We paid the upgrade to have a balcony and our "neighbours" were extremely inconsiderate. There were few times we were actually able to enjoy our balcony because they would blast their music, and scream to the balcony on the other side of us where their friends were staying. In addition, they had very loud children who were up before 7 am daily that they allowed out on the balcony and into the hallways screaming so sleeping in was never an option for us. While I can appreciate that children will be children, we spent money to enjoy a vacation and would have appreciated some consideration. Ship security became involved but nothing was ever done.
