We chose this cruise because of the itinerary and because the dates worked with what we needed. Price was within our budget. Overall, we were disappointed with Jewel of the Seas. We wondered if the crew was either new, or jaded. It was hard to tell. The service was not like what we have experienced before. The food quality in the Main Dining Room was poor, as was the service. Mistakes were made almost every time we were in there. It kind of became expected by the end of the cruise. I would have a hard time recommending this ship to someone, and honestly, we were disappointed with Royal Caribbean and expected more. Have had better experiences on other cruise lines.

We sailed not long after Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated the Caribbean. The port of departure was San Juan, which was ok to fly in and out of, but the city was clearly not ready for tourists. Our first port of call was St. Thomas, which was totally not in shape for tourists. I do understand that part of going back there was to likely help the economy, but as a cruise port, the island was not ready. Destruction was everywhere. We did an island tour, and it was frankly depressing. Royal Caribbean tried to make it out that St. Thomas had largely recovered and was ready for tourists. That is far from the case. If you are sailing to St. Thomas anytime in the near future, do not expect the island to be ready. You will see damage everywhere, and Magen's bay looks like it was hit by a Tsunami.

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D1

We were on "the hump." We really liked this location and would definitely choose this cabin again. The sounds insulation was quite amazing. When the door was cracked, you could here plenty of noise from the Centrum, but as soon as the door was shut, it was silent.

Port Reviews

Antigua

We only went into the shopping area which was typical of a cruise port. Shopping isn't our thing, but would be fine for someone who loves port shopping.
