Wanted to get away and this 14 day cruise visited the Caribbean ports we enjoy. We were pleased with the overall appearance of the ship, which had been refurbished since the last time we sailed on her. All public areas were very clean. Most of the staff, with a few exceptions were friendly and our cabin steward did a fine job for us. However, we were very disappointed with the meal selection in the dining room which was repetitive and uninspiring. Absolute worse shrimp cocktail (which happens to be a favorite of my husband) we have ever been served on a cruise ship. The buffet was also a disappointment due to runny scrambled eggs, under cooked bacon, limited pastry selection, no bananas, poor choice of cold cereals, stale hot dog and hamburger buns, no slices of white, wheat or rye bread to use for sandwiches, vegetables were usually cold, the red pasta sauce wasn't tasty, too much repetition of both entrees and desserts, and many of the cakes tasted like they had been infused with water.
As far as the entertainment, at least half of the guest performers didn't measure up. Of the four production shows, two made us wonder what could they have been thinking due to the ridiculous costumes and questionable music selection. Three of the four shows had very talented acrobats swinging from the rafters, which would have been more impressive if they hadn't been over used. Still the cast worked hard and did their best. Fortunately the show on the last night of the cruise was quite good. Members of the cast also did a nice job providing dance lessons to interested passengers on sea days.
All in all, it will not go down as one of our favorite cruise experiences and it may be a while before we choose to sail on Celebrity again.
Cabin was fine. Very quiet and nice balcony.
This is one of our favorite ports. Love the retractable bridge, walking around the city, the many shopping venues and stopping at the very nice casino near the terminal.
Took a cab over to the Palm Coast and did some serious shopping. Love this port.
