I chose this cruise for two reasons. First, the ease of Cape Liberty from my home and second, we love the Anthem.
My D.W. and I were celebrating our anniversary and really needed some “us” time. Between an 84 year old mother-in-law who moved in this past summer and of course the grandkids, we were passing each other daily. I decided to book a Junior Suite on deck 13 (the hump). We were in 13640 and it was fantastic. Right near the elevators but we didn’t hear a thing. Easy access to the Solarium and buffet. I was worried about what was overhead, but only heard any movement the morning we were disembarking.
We were on the cruise just after the Noro-virus outbreak so we received the email about getting to the port later. For the first time, we chose Yankee Trails bus company out of New York’s capital region. Fantastic. If you are between Albany and Newburgh and can get to the interchange, it’s worth every penny. Check in upon arrival was, as usual a breeze. We were asked to sit in the BLACK chairs awaiting permission to board. We were told that we wouldn’t be able to board until noon (this was at 10:30 am) but we were onboard by 11:05. We went straight to 270 for our first cocktail and a terrific roast beef sandwich. The rooms were not going to be accessible until 2 pm due to cleaning and when we were able to access the cabin we walked down deck 13 from the solarium and found our luggage about 40 cabins from where it belonged (not bad, at least it was on the right deck).
Beautiful. Cabin Stewart could have been more attentive, but not enough to wreck our vacation. Try the rainforest shower option in the shower...fantastic!
