We have sailed many ocean cruises, Premium to Luxury, including the Viking Star (Ocean). We were so impressed with Viking's Ocean Cruise, that we decided to book a river cruise on the Rhine; we booked on the Mani for a Rhineland Discovery voyage -- our very first River Cruise experience. From start to finish, Viking provides a first class product. In both our ocean and river cruise experiences with Viking, they walk you through each stage of the process with seamless ease. This is a First Class operation that provides 100% professionalism; no question, no request is too large or too small. Having only been ocean passengers in the past, I was curious to see the differences between the two. Now, after having this opportunity to compare, I will say that they are entirely different experiences, and I can't choose between the two. I love them BOTH! I will say that the Mani experience was very different in that you never felt RUSHED, and there was much more personalized service. Hands down, Viking searched the World over and found the VERY FINEST Officers, Staff, and Crew who treated us like valued guests. Special shout-out to the home office Viking Rep, Joseph O'Hern, who walked us through the booking process. He responded to every question and concern in a timely, efficient, and professional manner. We were so pleased with this experience that we plan on booking with Viking again in the near future for yet another unforgettable journey. Every experience was SPOT ON!!! I have only one suggestion to future travelers to Amsterdam. Book your Anne Frank museum tickets early on line, and book the day AFTER you arrive to Amsterdam.
