The ship needed more time in dry dock that's for sure but I've never seen a staff try harder oh sure there are always a few ppl who don't go the extra mile but the stewards, servers and bartenders were just excellent. We did know the cruise was not off to a great start when we sat 3-4 hours in the marshalling area with never an explanation or offer of food or drink! It was after 3pm when we finally got on board and up to the Lido for lunch. This is the smallest Holland America ship we've sailed on and I've never seen such an empty daily planner. There was not a lot going on. The shows in the test kitchen were excellent but there were not enough of them, they were repeating themselves before the trip ended. There are a lot of things I like on HAL, the teas were excellent and dinner in the dining room always had a wide choice of meals. The Lido had some very good meals too but they did serve the same things night after night. There was also nothing to eat after 8pm until the Lido reopened at 10:30 by which time I don't want to eat. After an early show it would have been nice to have a snack with our tea and coffee. A tray of cookies or pastries would have been very nice but there was only dry crackers. The Dive In closed at 5 o'clock so if you wanted a hamburger or hot dog for a light supper you were out of luck. I will say that HAL did offer a nice bit of cash for future cruises so they were trying to make up for what they knew was not a great cruise.

Cabin HH

This was an accessable stateroom but there was not a lot of room for the scooter I rented and I still had to put my walker somewhere. I pulled the couch out from the wall and folded my walker up but we had to be careful not to trip over the charging cord every night. There also was only one plug so we couldn't charge anything else until the middle of the night when the scooter was charged. Bed was very comfortable and once the water was no longer brown (second last day of 15 day trip) it was drinkable. I'm sure the water will be ok now.
