Overall the cruise was average. First time on a large ship and I guess I expected more of a wow factor. First off we do not do the drink package or extra fee restaurants - its just not our style. The waterslides were a fun option for the kids and us adults which we did take part in. The ropes course was fun as well and something that we all enjoyed. The staff at the outdoor activity areas were friendly and nice. The food was the one thing that we found was not as good as on the smaller ships. The buffet and restaurants just were average and nothing special. It still amazes me that people act on the first day that they will never get food again. We saw one person taking an entire pizza from the buffet....a whole pizza - that's just not right especially when there are kids waiting for pizza behind her and then there were none until it could be replaced by staff. We did hit all the free places to eat and found OSheehan's by far the worse. It wasn't busy when we were there - latterly a handful of people. We ordered 3 different kids of wings and an order of nachos. The wings were some of the lowest quality I have ever eaten. Broken bones, with black meat inside from where the bone was broke....or so over breaded that you could not find meat. Have to say that we were honestly very disappointed about this - just seems yet another way that NCL is cutting costs and putting out a poor product compared to other ships we have been on and ordered wings.

The one thing about food that we can say was nice is that my wife is gluten free. They went out of their way to make sure that she had what she wanted in the form of bread or waffles. They said they had cookies for her as well - but she found that out on day number 6.

Our cabin was 8138 which is the family balcony. BIG TIP - pick this cabin if you want a balcony because it's a normal size cabin but the balcony is larger because it's the first one next to the larger rooms that have a balcony. We had 2 chairs and 2 lounge/pool chairs plus still had plenty of room. It's an angle balcony so this is why there is extra room. The only draw back is that it's more sheltered so there is less wind so it can make the balcony really really hot in the sun. You also cant really see forward because the next balcony is also angled.

Mid-Ship Balcony Stateroom

Cabin BA

Our cabin was 8138 which is the family balcony - we had 4 in our cabin and really had no issues. BIG TIP - pick this cabin if you want a balcony because it's a normal size mid-ship forward cabin but the balcony is larger because it's the first one next to the larger rooms that have a balcony. We had 2 chairs and 2 lounge/pool chairs plus still had plenty of room. It's an angle balcony so this is why there is extra room. The only draw back is that it's more sheltered so there is less wind so it can make the balcony really really hot in the sun. You also can't really see forward because the next balcony is also angled.

Port Reviews

Cozumel

Hate this port because everyone there is pushy trying to get you in there to spend money. Also the price of things is so crazy that you know you can talk them down you just have to be willing to walk away and see if they will do something better. We saw people looking for a towel get told that it was $25 each and finally end up paying $10 for 2 towels. $140 necklace and only paying $20. This is why we get off walk to get some vanilla (which we never pay full price for as well) and then get back on the ship.

Harvest Caye

Make sure to wear water shoes at all times. The beach is nothing but crushed coral. There is basically no sand here. Don't pay to zip line here it's too expensive and only a couple lines. We didn't spend a dollar here - went back on the ship and ate.
