  • Destination: the Southern Caribbean
  • Cabin Type: Grand Suite

We chose this cruise because it left from Baltimore, Md, and we could drive to the ship rather than have to fly. Also, it is a smaller ship, less kids, and older passengers, like us.

We also wanted a longer than 7 night cruise, so this 12 night was perfect.

We do not think this is a great ship for kids - there is a small rock wall but the outdoor pool doesn't even have a slide. As we are older and did not want to cruise with a lot of kids and activity, this was a great ship for us - but if you have kids you may want to look into a larger ship.

Embarkation and disembarkation was flawless. Smooth and easy.

Our suite was and the whole ship was clean and spotless, and no funky smells. Our cabin steward was a delight, sweet and friendly and helpful...there was more than enough closet and drawer space for the two of us. We were surprised that there is only one, ONE! electrical outlet in the entire suite and it was not in the bathroom.

The staff! Oh my gosh, the staff were, each and every one, so kind, friendly, helpful and really made the vacation special. the captain was warm and friendly too.

The ship was way. too. hot. in the Windjammer - it was horrible. Hot and humid. The soloraum pool - a steam bath....the common areas were just too hot. And the chairs in the common areas need to be replaced with higher, wider chairs. Many of the passengers are older and getting in and out of those low, narrow chairs were painful. Please, Royal Caribbean, replace the chairs.

And the food, was just ok. Not bad, but not great. But served nicely and there is certainly enough to eat :)

the shore excursions that we did were great, well run, safe and comfortable although it was a hot wait for trolly transportation in Barbados from the ship to the port. All in all, it really was the most relaxing vacation I ever had...we booked another 12 day cruise in about a year.

Cabin Review

Grand Suite
Cabin GS 8014

Clean, spacious - plenty of closet and drawer space. Couch needs new cushions, Needs nightlight option - we had to leave overhead cabin light on and pull the curtain to make it dark enough to sleep but be able to see to the bathroom. Only one outlet???
