I've been on several Carnival ships and I must say that Magic was not my favorite. Overall, the ship is showing its age and I was very surprised that there was a lot of visible rust. All of the public area windows were dirty and weren't washed the entire cruise. Every cruise I've ever been on, there's always someone painting and washing windows - not this one. Foul odors in many places - was literally overpowering and just awful. Even the comedian made fun of the smell - you know it's bad.... Main dining room service was excellent but the food was bland and in their effort to be fancy, missed the mark. Lido buffet hasn't changed much. Guy's burgers was excellent and lines moved quickly. Always a long line at Wok, but food was good. The BBQ was only open twice during our cruise, had very long lines, but the food was very good. Bartenders were nice even though we had Cheers. I was surprised during our tender into Belize that the boat operators strongly suggested that they were to be tipped because we are visitors and we should so our appreciation when we exit the tender. Last time, they didn't do that. There was also a magician that came around during dinner - the magic was impressive, but he also hinted that we could show "appreciation" at the end of his little show. Cabin attendant did a great job, but I had to keep the deadbolt locked when we were in the room because he wouldn't knock, he just came in (learned that the hard way on the first day). I was surprised that the shows weren't packed and we saw many Carnival employee's scattered among the guests seating areas - not just a couple but many. Not that it was a problem, just a little different. Enjoyed the cruise but was disappointed somewhat in the condition of the ship.
