We did a review of our September cruise on MSC Preziosa where we concluded that the cruise and the on board experience was much better than we feared… that cruise was a planned dry run for Meraviglia which had been booked for a year and was to include 2 mid 70 year olds with us…

We diligently followed all the reviews of Meraviglia since her launch and frankly we were pretty concerned (understatement) by the reviews we read. We were within inches of cancelling before the final balance was due because all aspects seemed to be so truly awful… thanks goodness we didn’t as it would have been a horrible mistake.

Our biggest reflections before some of the specific details would be:

Cabin Review

Cabin bella balcony

see main body of review - really nice cabin with an enormous balcony... it really was huge!

Port Reviews

Naples

hop on hop off just beyond the castle in front of the port... not bad but not highly recommended...

Taormina (Messina)

brilliant value hop on hop off from the town square 15 euros for both lines... bargain!

Malta (Valletta)

Really lovely city - very walkable, nice bars, shops and restaurants... lovely relaxed atmosphere and great views from cliffs/ castles...

Barcelona

Awesome hop on hop off.. fantastic bustling, big city... really classy.... its a great port of call....
