The Celebrity Infinity is an older ship but it is extremely clean and has a very comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. The crew is very accommodating and friendly, always trying to please. Our cabin #8018 was towards the front of the ship which was fine and the view from the balcony allowed us to see some beautiful sunrises and sunsets and watch as we arrived in the various ports early in the morning without leaving the cabin. We were happy we upgraded from an inside cabin to a balcony at the last minute. There was plenty of storage space and the shower and sink in the bathroom were a bit bigger than usual. Our cabin steward was beyond wonderful!
We enjoyed every port and the weather was very cooperative. We had some rain in Cartagena but we managed to do everything on our agenda without getting wet. This is a lovely colonial city. In Colon, we visited the old and new locks and we learned about the operation from the people who work there. In Puntarenas, Costa Rica, we saw monkeys, toucans, macaws, and we went on a boat ride where we saw crocodiles and many other bird species and animal life. We also had a delicious Costa Rican lunch. In Guatemala, we booked transportation to Antigua and we did a self-guided tour through this delightful city. In Puerto Vallarta, we walked the Malecon and in Cabo San Lucas, we took a water taxi for $10 each to the Arches and then went for a long, hot walk.
The highlight of the cruise was sailing through the Panama Canal, which was an experience I will never forget. It was far more spectacular than I expected! Having Bill Fall to prepare us for what we were going to see and to narrate the transit was very helpful and enjoyable.
