We have cruised with Carnival 4 times now, on the Ecstasy, Freedom Miracle, now Splendor. Once on Holland America and once with Princess.
The Embarkation was one of the easiest yet.
We chose this cruise because of the ports to be visited and we love to cruise. The ship it self is ok, may be in need or a make over. The Lido restaurant was just fine a lot of variety and very good tasting food. We only ate in the main dining room once but the food was excellent. The only thing we saw on the Lido deck was that the cushions on the chairs and benches were sagging and worn out. We tried a few different areas on the Lido with the same results.
We went to the comedy club only once but they were very entertaining. We attended the entertainment in the Spectacular lounge, this was well below par for carnival, the shows were not very good.
We went to three ports Ocho Rios, which I think was keyed more towards the younger crowd and not much for us older people to do. The rest Grand Turk and Amber Cove were just fine and there were all kinds of excursions to choose from. The shore excursions in Miami that we took was the Everglades with Miami airport transportation the excursion was great, however the description stated there were two different ones. One was transportation to Miami Airport and one for FT Lauderdale. This is not correct both buses go to FT Lauderdale, then to Miami. The guide stated they have never ran just to one airport. They dropped us off at the International section of the airport, so we had to walk to the far end to American airlines.
Cabin was very clean and comfortble.
There were no excursions that were interesting to us. All were geared to the younger people.
We went on porta plata and local flavor. We went to the Cigar factory, Chocolate Factory and the rum factory and had lunch there, all were very informative and interesting. The lunch at the rum factory was very good a local stew with pork and chicken with rice very good.
Embarkations was the best we have seen,
