This was our first cruise with MSC and we enjoyed it very much. We have been on about 15 or so cruises, mostly with Princess and one with Celebrity. First off let me put this all in prospective. My husband and I are in our mid 40s and we were in Yacht Club for this sailing so our experience will differ from those staying outside of Yacht Club. Vacations are a time for us to relax as we both have professional careers and own a small business. We were traveling with another couple and two friends all staying in Yacht Club except for the one friend. We were also part of a large, about 400 people, bear group onboard.

Miami: We arrived 2 days before and stayed at the Intercontinental downtown. It offered a variety of places to walk to for dinner and entertainment. We took Uber here and to the port the next morning. We paid $18.50 to the hotel with Uber. For comparison our friend paid the same price to use Super Shuttle which stopped along the way to drop people at different locations. Had no problems with either and would recommend.

Embarkation: This was the easiest embarkation we have ever had. After arrival at the port we took our luggage over to the Yacht Club white tent that was set up curbside. There a butler checked our paperwork, checked us off his list, and put tags on our luggage. We waited a few minutes and another butler came and escorted us through security and upstairs to a separate check-in area. There we had a glass of champagne while being checked in and receiving our cruise cards. Once our group was all checked in, the butler escorted us on the ship up to the Yacht Club lounge to wait till our cabin was ready. We had snacks and drinks and used this time to link our onboard accounts to our credit cards and set up our dinner reservations. There is a kiosk next to the concierge desk to setup your account and our restaurant maître d was on hand in the lounge to handle reservations. When our cabin was ready, which was pretty quick, our butler Vishnu came and took us to our cabin. Along the way he introduced us to our cabin steward Lovish. Once in the cabin Vishnu explained everything in the cabin, how to get a hold of him, and what to expect from him. This was so much better than our last butler experience on Celebrity.

Cabin Review

Yacht Club Deluxe Suite

Cabin YC1

Cabin: Our cabin was ready pretty quickly. We had one of the shorter but wider cabins on deck 16. The cabin wasn’t huge but about the same size as a mini-suite on Princess or a Sky Suite on Celebrity and very comfortable in size. We actually spent less time in the cabin this cruise as it was just so nice sitting in our lounge or up on our pool deck. There was decent storage space so everything was able to be put away. The bathroom had a nice tub/shower combo with a glass partition instead of a shower curtain. There were too many mirrors. The whole back shower wall was a mirror as well as the large mirror over the sink area. It made it seem bigger but you were able to see too much of oneself when doing your business. The only issue we really had with the bathroom was the water temperature. It was very finicky and would constantly go from cold to burning hot. You had to be careful while showering. The rest of the cabin was very comfortable and nice. Balcony was a nice size with 2 chairs and a table but we barely used it. The mini bar was nice but again we barely used it as it was so easy to run over to our lounge for a drink. Our butler was exceptional. The first morning he chased us down after leaving the cabin to make sure we had a good night, didn’t need anything, and to pass information for the Captain’s mixer later in the afternoon. On multiple occasions when he would see my husband at the lounge getting coffee, he would send him to go back to the cabin saying he would bring it there in a minute. Our cabin steward was great and was ninja like. We never seen him in the cabin but it was always perfect. I wanted to bring him home with me.

Took an island tour and lunch at the beach.

Just did a little shopping.
