nice flowers, these were not too expensive and held up fantastically during

We finally decided to pull the trigger on an Oasis class ship. Last year we sailed on the Freedom and found that though its much larger than the ships we normally cruise that it wasn't as daunting a prospect as thought it might be. On Oasis, there's a LOT of stuff to do and I think the ship is just too dang big! We have a fairly set routine and having all those other choices is nice or maybe is nice for certain groups of people but for us they had a lot of unsused choices.

I think there are a lot of pluses, the food was great and better than freedom. Dining room service was better too. On the main street thing the pizza and café promenade are fantasic! That whole area works as intended I think. In the evenings this was the most busy part of the ship so getting from one end to the other a challenge. Everybody was acting in good spirits though which greatly helps.

Lots of people have asked us about lines and crowds. Most times it didn't seem to be a long wait for anything. The ship does have a lot of hiddenaway spaces and knowing where they are or figuring it out early in the cruise really helps. I had a scooter rented for my wife and I and the first night I got up about 4 am and toured the ship myself to find al the right kind of places for the rest of the cruise. This really helped on down the road and generally kept us from getting turned around. ( which only happened about one time! )

Cabin Review

Superior Ocean View Stateroom with Balcony

Cabin D7

Our room was spacious and the balcony was great! We rented a scooter from scootaround. Both me and my wife have mobility issues and for a ship this size we definitely needed a scooter and it wouldn't have hurt to have two! You could turn a full sized on around easily in the room and it wasn't in the way while charging. We can sort of hobble around on a smaller ship like the brilliance or fascination but on freedom and oasis we rented scooters for the week.

Port Reviews

Labadee

neat little touristy thing, lunch was good, the first beach is really rocky and the better ones are further from the ship - IT was intersting to see the hillside rollercoaster!

the "native" vendors are a blast from the past reminding one of nassau in the 80's or cozumel in the late 80's when cozumel was a tender port for even the smallest of ships!

just remember the term 10 bucks! and you'll be fine!

Falmouth

we did the touristy thing here, pics were taken not stirred! wearing Margaritaville tshirts will get you a free margarita, and buying three shirts will get you one free AND ONE FREE MARGARITA FOR EACH SHIRT! so 6 margaritas later and a shared grilled chicken taco salad ( man this was one of the best meals the entire cruise!!!! ) we topped it off with a couple RED STRIPES and after a jaunt to the official cuban ceegar store for some Fonseca's I let the old lady scoot her way back to the ship on her own as I staggered my way back with my cane. ( the easy part was hitching a convenient ride to margaritaville on a golf cart! the HARD part was stumping it back! no golf cart to be seen...... anyone know of an Egyptian camel ride? )

anyway to make a long story longer, falmouth is a nice big touristy thing, but dressed up to look like a little town so it has some class to it - also a straw market too but much nicer than the haitian one, no edge to it at all though......

the fake town is the jumping off point for your tours the same as costa maya, or the newer touristy dock sites in cozumel, everyone who's anyone knows the real deal is taking the taxi into town on coz!

Cozumel

The reason I give coz a low rating is just for the touristy thing which seems to be still under contruction or is it repair? Royal has a margaritaville there but with little real flavor. I wonder if the real margaritaville up where NCL docks ( or near it is still there? ) Anyway, I scooted off early in the day on some errands. ( they have not invented the MARGARITA-PROOF CAMERA as yet!!!! )

Generally speaking Cozumel is one of our favorite ports! but you gotta get into town to have any real fun OR take a tour I guess? we have never toured but our best times here were when we were a bit younger and more mobile! Anyway take a short cab ride into town and have em take you to the town square OR the first bunch of shops nearest the ship docks in town! that way you only have to walk in one direction, shopping and drinking and maybe taking in some Mexican poppers! let me tell you guys a real deal jalapeno popper here in cozumel is a whole nuther animal than what you get at crapplebees back home!

anyway, like they say in the movies, STICK TO THE ROAD AND STAY OFF THE MOORS and you'll be fine! I'd add to that STAY ON SHIPS TIME! and don't miss the boat!!!
