Had a terrific time, probably the best time in 10 cruises but this review is about the ship, crew and culture to help you decide if Regal Princess is where you want to be.

I was impressed with the captain's professionalism conveyed in his announcements but never met as the ship is just too big. Likewise, our cabin attendant was great! He seemed to have our timing down perfect and the room was always cleaned when we returned. The ship was beautifully decorated conveying luxury. We tried both of the upcharge restaurants as well as the main dining rooms and were mostly satisfied with the level of service and attention. The entertainment was pretty average and I guess designed for short attention spans as it included bursts of fireworks and one show was only 30 minutes. The big screen outside was quite a nice feature. Issues were: miscommunication about the drink package, constant handing over the room key for charges, and inappropriate sales pitches. I was hounded by waiter after waiter to buy the wine tasting events, once while I was trying to eat lunch. I lost my appetite from the anger boiling up. We went to one of the tastings and were disappointed as the hosts were the head waiters who knew "something" about wine but were not sommeliers and tried to joke their way through it, versus pass any real knowledge. The wines were not very good quality and the pours were small. Don't waste your time on that. Beverage pricing and access was tricky and frustrating. We bought the premium drink packages yet still dealt with issue after issue regarding it. Everything from bottles of sparkling water being charged, to the water set up in the room not included, to diet tonic not covered by the package! A Belvedere martini is not included in the package but a Grey Goose is. I could go on with all the problems with the drink package but suffice it to say it is so bad that I will avoid Princess for that reason alone! In the end, I concluded that a luxury, all inclusive brand is so worth the extra money.
