First time sailing on Silverseas and we expected a very nice trip. Cabin was fine, on par with Regent, just not as new. Having a butler was nice. Food was at best mediocre. There were really only 2 restaurants to choose from (weather was so cool, pool side dining was not comfortable). Menus changed only every 3 days. Breakfast buffet was pretty much the same every day. Lunch buffet varied, however, there were few healthy choices. On board activities were extremely limited and did not feel any real enthusiasm from the entertainment department. This cruise would be good for someone who wanted to stay in their cabin and be pampered, very little else to recommend it. I understand some of the lighting system was being reworked which limited what was available to offer for entertainment. This was a real problem when we missed 4 of 8 ports. They advertised this cruise as going to Prince Edward Island, we received a notice the week before we left that this would not be possible due to whale migration activity. Upon boarding, we found that none of the cruises this year had been able to go to Prince Edward Island for the same reason. The alternate port offered required tendering. Because of weather, we could not tender. It is my understanding that only half the cruises attempting to tender there were able to do so. Very disappointing.
