Annual Bermuda cruise in October to celebrate our anniversary (6th cruise) from the port of Boston. Our favorite cruise due to the ease of travel to/from Boston. Bus from Portland Maine to South Station then subway to port. Embarkation went well until the security checkpoint, it was a real bottleneck. Once on aboard all went well. The NCL Dawn is a very nice ship, especially since it's renovations in 2016. The Officers and crew are all very friendly and helpful. Can't speak for the meals in the main dining rooms, but I can say the the meals from La Cucina (calamari app and veal marsala) and Cagney's (oysters app and NY sirloin strip) were outstanding !! The buffet had a large assortment of food to cater to everybody and is a great opportunity to try different foods. Plenty of activities onboard and the entertainment was very good, especially the magician. For the first time in 20+ cruises the casino was not in a smog of cigarette smoke.... how refreshing !!!!!! Kings Wharf is an interesting starting point as it has a couple of pubs, glassblowing shop, museum, shops, ferry and bus stop all within a short walk from the pier. All in all, this is a great relaxing cruise, a few days at sea and a few days in port. We did the "walk-off" disembarkation which went smoothly.
The cabin itself was fine, after all we don't spend time in the room except to sleep. Our only complaint about the entire cruise was that the beds were very hard. Very uncomfortable !!! Our room steward did a very good job of keeping the cabin clean. We named him "The Ghost" because we saw him once during our entire cruise, not sure if he was shy or unfriendly.
