I chose this particular cruise for the ports, as well as a minimum number of days at sea. The Spirit turned out to exceed my expectations, since I've previously opted for 'luxury lines'. No need to go broke, I learned, as this ship had excellent accommodations, was beautiful in the public areas, great entertainment to suit a vast array of tastes, and a truly stellar staff. Even with a $50 per port credit, however, the excursions seemed particularly overpriced.

My main objection was with the cuisine, which IMHO was pretty distasteful unless one chose a cost-plus specialty restaurant where the food and service was wonderful. However, the tasteless food at the buffet and other dining venues didn't seem to slow down many other guests, so perhaps it was just me! I ended up choosing to eat a nondescript breakfast, then dine like a local in each of the ports. A light salad rounded out the evening if I got hungry back on board.

All in all, The Spirit gives great value for the price! I'd definitely cruise with them again in the future.

Lovely cabin, in a perfect location. My cabin steward was attentive and thorough. Since our fall weather was heavenly, I really was able to maximize my time on my veranda. This is, in my mind, the perfect balcony cabin if you don't want to pop for a suite.
