Hubby and I were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and wanted to do something fun and relaxing. We've done several transatlantic crossings in the past and looked forward to taking another. Our last ta the Canary Islands stop was cancelled so we were excited with this itinerary and two stops there. We've cruised on the Royal several times before so knew the ship and with the exception of a few things like the it a lot. We started in Barcelona and only chose to be there one day before the cruise. I was very active on the CC roll call for this cruise so through that we were able to connect with other passengers and took advantage of a bus transport from our hotel to the port.
Embarkation was one of the best we have ever experienced. It was well organized, extremely fast and we were on the ship in a short period of time. Because the Royal has a large spread out buffet area there were no lines or long waits to grab a bite to eat around 1.
Our cabin was clean and in a convenient location. There is always plenty of storage on the Princess ships and the closet is tucked away in its own little hallway which is nice. Our luggage arrived in a couple of hours so we were unpacked and organized well before our setting sail around 6. Our stateroom stewardess Lizbeth was so helpful and eager to help us with anything. She remained a jewel throughout the cruise. Our bar set up wasn't there when we arrived and didn't get set up until close to 6 as there were so many elites onboard they simply got behind.
Small but clean and lots of storage. Comfortable bed, huge tv and act that worked really well. Shower roomier than on most other Princess ships. Balcony small but doable.
Not our favorite as we were robbed last time we visited.
Took excursion to Xatavia. Issue was there was a celebration going on and because of parades and such our buss had to drop us off quite a ways from our starting point so way to much walking. Seemed a little disorganized.
Great tour and guide. Interesting city.
Did the hop on hop off bus. Nice city.
